Creativity abounded in the cozy cabin and along the shoreline and pillowy, moss-blanketed, forest pathways of Resurrection Bay for our second annual Kayakers Cove Nature Journaling Retreat.

The weather… a bit rainy, a bit foggy, and a bit sunny helped to deepen that uniquely mysterious atmosphere that belongs only to the ocean environment. The calming wash of waves against the rocky shore soothed the soul. While at the same time our senses and awareness remained alert for what natural wonders awaited our focused attention.

And so, it was for the three days and two nights this year’s gathering of nature journalers spent together in the magical environment that is Kayakers Cove. Kim McNett skillfully guided our learning through various techniques and practices. Each participant brought their unique lens of interest and experience into the fusion that enriched our time together. Skills grew, confidence deepened, memories were made, and friendships grew. Many heartfelt thanks to each person who was a part of this year’s experience.

We have already booked Kayakers Cove for the 2027 season and look forward to next year’s magical learning time together. If you’re considering joining us, please SAVE THE DATE on your calendar for June 4 – 6, 2027. We will open next year’s retreat for registration after the New Year. If you know of anyone who might also want to participate, please have them subscribe to Seward Nature Journaling here, to receive news about this and other nature journaling events that may be scheduled in the future.
